Police have stepped up patrols in the area of Durham Intermediate School after a man tried to coerce a student into his truck.

The student told school officials that he was walking to Durham Intermediate, 801 N. Shady Oaks Drive, shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday when he was approached by a man in a newer-looking white extended-cab Ford pickup with tinted windows.

The student said that the man asked him to get into his truck and that the student said “no” and left the area. The student reported the incident to the school resource officer and officials in the Carroll school district, police said.

A police forensic artist met with the student and sketched the driver, police said. The man appeared to be in his mid-50s and was wearing glasses, a light blue ball cap and a light gray zip-up jacket. He had a tattoo on his left forearm, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Southlake police at 817-748-8127 or Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477.
