TCU is third in the men’s division and fifth in the women’s division following the second day of the Big 12 Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday in Austin.

Both the men’s and women’s 400 medley relay teams had solid races.

The men’s team of Cooper Robinson, Ford Story, Corey Nix and Anthony McMurry swam the third-fastest time in school history (3:13.58) in placing third.

The women’s team of Lyndsie Gibson, Gabi Korac, Ali Bleasdell and Julia Grace Sanders recorded the fourth-fastest time (3:46.14) in school history in placing fifth.

“Our spirits are good,” TCU swimming coach Richard Sybesma said after the halfway point of the competition. “We have some of our good sprint events coming up Friday. We just have to get it done.”

Mikayla Winkler (4:51.19) and Gibson (4:54.72) made it to the 500 free finals and placed fourth and seventh, respectively.

On the men’s side in the 500 free Thor Stenfjord (4:25.70) and Michael Franz (4:29.66) finished seventh and eighth.

In the 200 IM, Robinson posted the time of 1:47.53 to finish sixth.

Sanders also placed seventh in the 50 free (23.09). McMurry (20.18) was eighth in the men’s 50 free.

In diving, Kristen Connolly (255.05) finished 11th in the 1-meter.

“We have a lot of good swimming left in us,” Sybesma said.

TCU’s men have 228 points and the women have 161.

Texas leads with 428 and 395.5, respectively.
