More pre-K needed

One of the most effective means of addressing the educational needs of a community is a strong pre-kindergarten program. Comprised of diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups, Birdville should have a Pre-K program in every school. However, six of the lower-performing elementary schools do not have Pre-K while most of the more affluent schools do.

Although Birdville voters previously rejected a bond that proposed the closures and/or consolidations of several elementary schools, the current leadership tried and failed again this past year. Now is the time to invest in our neighborhood schools, providing the buildings, resources, programs and support necessary to offer the best educational experiences for all children.

Not all voices of our diverse community are being heard or represented by the BISD School Board.

What should be first in the minds of district leaders, teachers, and board members? What is best for all kids?

Birdville ISD has lost touch with its purpose and mission.
