Pianists perform musicale

Piano students, their families and friends of Harriet Motter presented a Sunday musicale. Performers were William Meshack, Brennan Trussell, Emma Tung Kyra Ullman, Karen, Ben and Evan Shugart and Mickey Legg. The theme of the program was Echos of Christmas. Kyra Ullman was an accompanist who assisted her sister, violin solist Hayley Ullman. Duets were highlighted: Karen Shugart and Mickey Legg played “Ding Dong Merrily On High,” “Still, Still, Still” and “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night.” Accompanied by Harriet Motter, Kyra Ullmam played “Good King Wenceslas” arranged by Martin, William Meshack played “We Three Kings” from Rollin’s “We Wish You a Jazzy Christmas.”

The students performed selections prepared for the Arlington Music Teachers Cyclical Festival. Rondo Capriccio by Olson, Emma Tung; Minuet and Lady Bug Waltz by Ben Shugart; Hamster Chase by Evan Shugart; Stomping Five by Vandall by Brennan Trussell; Scherzando by Olson and Cakewalk by Debussy by Kyra Ullman; The Approaching Storm by Brown by William Meshack.

Group singing accompanied by Emma Tung, Kyra Ullman and Harriet Motter of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Auld Lang Syne” and “Go Tell It On The Mountain” was led by Yvonne Meshack of Desoto, who also played background music during the reception and social hour that followed the program. Special guests were Ralph Walker, Nancy and Les McGee from Midlothian, and Dorothy Chambers and Erin Meshack from Desoto. Beverly Blodgett and Buffy Trussell were recital reception hosts and Pete Ullman the event photographer.
