A TCU student who was found dead Tuesday at his apartment building on the campus was stabbed to death, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported Thursday.

The death of Stewart Trese, 23, is being investigated as a homicide, Fort Worth police have said. Investigators declined to provide further information.

The medical examiner reported that the cause of death was “multiple stab wounds,” including one to the neck.

Police on Wednesday arrested David Hidalgo, 21, who has been described as an acquaintance of Trese. Hidalgo was in the Mansfield jail Thursday with bail set at $100,000, according to jail records.

Hidalgo gave interviews Thursday to WFAA/Channel 8 and KTVT/Channel 11 but declined to talk to the Star-Telegram.
