For the first time this season, the Tarleton State Texans, ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II men’s basketball, came up short Wednesday night.

The Texans (18-1, 7-1 Lone Star Conference) fell to Midwestern State 77-75 in overtime, ending Tarleton’s unbeaten season and snapping its 20-game home winning streak.

The Mustangs outrebounded the Texans 51-33 and had 12 second-chance points. In overtime, Midwestern grabbed a crucial board in the final seconds that allowed the Mustangs to take a two-point lead with 3 seconds remaining.
