For the first time all season, the UT Arlington women are coming home to College Park Center after winning a game on the road.

The Mavericks (2-18, 1-8 Sun Belt Conference) will look to use the momentum from Saturday’s 67-51 win at Georgia State to propel them to what would be another first for the 2013-2014 season: back-to-back wins.

And a win against Louisiana-Lafayette (10-10, 3-6) on Thursday is a very real possibility. The Mavs fell to the Ragin’ Cajuns 66-64 in Lafayette on Jan. 11.

UTA maintained a slim lead for most of the first matchup, in which point guard Laila Suleiman scored a career-high 25 points on 6-of-8 3-point shooting. Lately, however, it has been the Mavs’ frontcourt that has provided the spark.

Forward Briana Walker, who had 15 points and nine rebounds in the first game against Louisiana, led the Mavericks with 21 and nine in the win against Georgia State. Center Desherra Nwanguma has averaged 18.4 points and 13.6 rebounds over the last five games.
