Move over, sweetheart, strapless and spaghetti-strapped gowns. Sleeves are back. No longer considered stuffy or prudish, wedding dresses with sleeves are showing up as a fashion-forward alternative for brides who don’t necessarily want bare arms.

Beginning in 2011 with the duchess of Cambridge’s Alexander McQueen gown, the resurgence of sleeves has found its way not only into the history books but also onto the recent bridal runways of designers such as Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrera and Jenny Packham. Celebrity brides Ivanka Trump and Lauren Bush Lauren wore them in recent years, and folks are still talking about the lovely, long-sleeved Alice Temperley gown Kelly Clarkson chose for her October 2013 outdoor wedding. Here are some of our favorite long- and short-sleeved gowns.
