So far, two incumbents are the only ones who have filed for May’s local elections.

Place 7 City Councilman Larry Broseh, 59, has filed for re-election to the post he has held for 12 years in two tenures. Broseh, a local business owner, has said that he hopes to focus on more retail growth and continued growth in the city’s medical district.

As of late Monday, Councilwoman Wendy Burgess, 43, an area business owner, had not filed for a second three-year term in Place 6 but has said she would.

Danny Baas, 42, also filed to keep his Place 6 seat on the Mansfield school board for a second three-year term. Baas, a local police officer, said that he would like to continue serving on the school board until his youngest child has graduated from high school.

By late Monday, Courtney Wilson, 43, who owns a local fitness center, had not filed for reelection to Place 7 for her second term, but has said that she intends to run.

Both elections will be held May 10. Deadline to file for the City Council or Mansfield school board race is 5 p.m. Feb. 28.

City Council hopefuls can file for the two available seats on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at City Hall, 1200 E. Broad St. Packets of election-filing documents for candidates are available in the city secretary’s office.

Mansfield school board candidates can pick up application packets between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from board of trustees secretary Julie Moye at the school administration building, 605 E. Broad St.
