About the Mavs: Friday’s game marks the finale of a wild road trip. ... On Monday, the Mavs built a 24-point lead at Cleveland and saw it whittled to two before hanging on for a 102-97 victory. On Wednesday in Toronto, they mounted a 21-point lead before watching it disappear as they were shocked by the Raptors 93-85. ... Dirk Nowitzki rested against the Raptors, but he will be back in the starting lineup Friday. ... The Mavs open a four-game homestand Sunday against Detroit.

About the Nets: Jason Kidd got off to a rocky start in his first year as coach. The Nets started 4-12 but since have gone 14-10, including 8-1 in 2014. That includes a win at Oklahoma City and wins over the Hawks, Warriors and Heat. ... The Nets get most of their offense from Joe Johnson (16.3 ppg) and Dallas native Deron Williams (13.4 ppg, 6.8 apg).   — Dwain Price
