Their current streak came on the heels of losing five in a row. ... In the teams’ first meeting this season, goalie Jonathan Bernier faced a season-high 50 shots as Toronto managed a 3-2 shootout win. ... Veteran right win Phil Kessel scored twice Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche, extending his goal-scoring streak to four games. He leads the team with 26 goals and 26 assists. ... Bernier has won four straight in goal and backup James Reimer has two straight wins.
