Honoring Bob Hood

The late, great Bob Hood was my favorite outdoor writer since as long as I have read the Star-Telegram and so many other area outdoor publications.

I sent him a note when he retired from the paper, and he responded with a sincere, handwritten letter. I hope the Star-Telegram will honor his memory, and many contributions to the paper, by continuing to provide local coverage of the outdoors.

His articles were always must-reads for me, telling what to expect each hunting season, new techniques or gadgets to try or different wild game recipes to try.

I always hoped I would run into him around a campfire sometime, somewhere, but I never had the pleasure. I still feel like he was a personal friend of mine. I will always remember him.

Happy hunting, Bob Hood.
