Fort Worth does not have the only restaurant boom.Parker County has a new list of dining options, leading with a new name in a familiar location. Tucker Red’s in Willow Park opened in November, and went through some early chef and staff changes. But George Smith’s first restaurant venture has started to settle down, and readers are writing to recommend the chicken-fried rib-eye steak.Tucker Red’s replaced the old Clear Fork in the sprawling restaurant and banquet facility on Interstate 20. The restaurant tried several themes, but the current menu is branded as “big Texas tastes.”The rib-eye definitely fits. It’s grilled first, then floured and fried with a homestyle breading. The pork schnitzel, German sausage, green chile hamburger steak and catfish are among the “Texas” tastes. (Tucker Red’s counts German Texas.)So is a dish listed on the menu as “Cannibal Draw Chili,” from the creek with the same name in Glasscock County.George Smith’s family saw the giant space for sale and decided to try a restaurant venture, he said. The restaurant has struggled with service, and the brunch buffet wasn’t kept refreshed when I went by last weekend. But there was no complaint about the fresh biscuits or homemade cookies.Tucker Red’s may take time. For now, it’s open for an $8.99 lunch buffet Tuesday through Friday, a brunch buffet Saturday and Sunday and for dinner Tuesday through Saturday. It’s at 4971 E. Interstate 20, 817-441-1699, tuckerreds.com. • Tequila Bar y Grill is Weatherford’s first Latin-Mex restaurant, serving mole poblano, pipian verde, pork adobo and other central Mexico dishes along with seafood and a selection of tequilas. It’s open for lunch and dinner Mondays through Saturdays and brunch Sundays at 2150 Tin Top Road at Interstate 20, 682-333-0750. • Outskirtz Grill is the latest back-road burger hangout. The burgers are served on the now-ubiquitous sweet sourdough buns. Outskirtz also offers salads and wraps. It’s open Tuesdays through Saturdays on Azle Highway (Farm Road 730) about two miles north of U.S. 180 (north of the Malt Shop); 817-598-0009, outskirtzgrill.com.• Consider this your first warning about Valentine’s dining. With Valentine’s on a Friday, some restaurants are booking up quickly. Del Frisco’s, Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, Ellerbe Fine Food, Lanny’s Alta Cocina Mexicana and Pacific Table were starting to fill up by early this week. The new Del Frisco’s Grille in Southlake is already booked.Try one of the other steakhouses like Bonnell’s or Capital Grille, or a nice casual restaurant like Red Door Bistro, AF+B or Bird Cafe.
