Parker County Republicans are in for a “real thrill,” said Zan Prince, Chairwoman of the Republican Party. On Feb. 1, Glenn Beck, popular multimedia personality of both radio and television, will be the keynote speaker for the party’s annual fundraiser known as the Reagan Day dinner. In years past, the fundraising dinner was known as the Lincoln Day dinner but has changed to reflect the party’s direction today.“It’s really more in line with who we are today,” said precinct chairwoman Evon Markum. She said it was during a meeting last November that the party discussed who they could get as speaker for their annual fundraiser. It was there that Beck’s name was discussed.“With the funds we generate - it goes to a great many things,” Markum said. “One of the most important is our ‘Get out the vote’ brochure that is delivered to everyone in Parker County. The Party and our supporters - including Bush Legacy Republican Women - make a huge investment in educating voters and encouraging them to vote on Election Day.”She said that the brochure is designed to educate people on Republican values, where and when to vote.Prince agreed and said it was “exciting” to have Beck come to speak to conservatives in Parker County. “It is exciting to have Glenn Beck,” she said. “He is a patriot and grassroots activist for the conservative principles that our founders based our nation on. He reflects the Republican principles of less government, personal accountability, and the value of all life." Beck, born in Mount Vernon, Wash., is a leading voice among the political right. Beck has created one of the more controversial and lucrative media brands in the talk show business, outflanked only in ratings and dollars by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. His “folksy, passionate style” has landed his syndicated radio program on 400 stations across the country, while his topical Fox News television program Glenn Beck, which debuted in January 2009, drew a regular crowd of approximately 2.4 million viewers.Today, Beck is reaching millions through TheBLAZETV internet program.Beck will greet and participate in a photo opportunity for the event’s hosts during the 6 p.m. Reagan Day Council reception. Beck will speak at 7 p.m., followed by a catered dinner by the Fire Oak Grill. He will “share his humor and insights to the current state of our country.”The Reagan Day dinner will take place at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse located at 2201 Mineral Wells Hwy in Weatherford. To receive information on the PCRP Reagan Day Dinner, table sponsorships or tickets go to http://www.parkertxgop.org/ or call the Parker County Republican Chairman Zan Prince at 817-594-5029.
