The TCU women’s basketball team’s Big 12 matchup against Kansas on Wednesday will be a battle of the posts.

TCU centers Latricia Lovings and Klara Bradshaw will face Kansas junior Chelsea Gardner, who leads the Jayhawks in scoring with an average of 16.5 points per game and has tallied four double-doubles this season. Gardner is also fifth in the Big 12 with 24 blocked shots.

But TCU features Lovings, one of the best shot-blockers in the league as well as the nation with 50 blocks this season. She has nine blocks in two Big 12 games, including seven in TCU’s Big 12 opener against Iowa State.

After the Horned Frogs’ loss to the Cyclones, Lovings recognized her success on defense but said she felt unsatisfied with her offensive production after scoring just three points and going 1 for 8 from the free-throw line.

Against Texas Tech on Sunday, Lovings posted 12 points and nine rebounds, trailing sophomore Zahna Medley, who scored a team-high 22.

Kansas owns the all-time series lead 3-1 and has won three straight against TCU. The Horned Frogs’ lone win of the series came in 2009.
