Arlington Heights United Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church in Fort Worth have a long-standing relationship through which the two established a La Posada tradition that coincides with Epiphany — the 12th day after Christmas, Jan. 6, when tradition says the three wise men found Jesus and Christ was revealed to the Gentiles through them.“Because that part is incorporated, we do it on Epiphany Sunday, a brief service of carols at Grace, then a procession with Mary on a donkey,” said the Rev. Mary Spradlin, senior pastor at Arlington Heights United Methodist. “We welcome the weary travelers. The shepherds and angels come. Then the wise men come in riding the camels. Camels on Camp Bowie are about as cool as it gets.”The celebration includes a petting zoo and festival-like eating from tables laden with simple foods like fruit and tamales, Spradlin said. “Then we sing and go home,” she said.
