About the Clippers: They lead the Pacific Division and own the NBA’s sixth-best record, but are only 8-9 on the road. ... They have a solid trio of players in Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan. Griffin averages 22 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Paul averages 19.6 ppg, leads the NBA in assists (11.3) and is third in steals (2.48). Jordan is second in the league in rebounds (13.4 rpg) and fifth in blocks (2.24) Paul is second in the NBA in double-doubles with 26, Griffin is third with 24 and Jordan is tied for 15th and has as many as the Mavericks with 13. ... The Clipperss have won seven of their past 10 games.

About the Mavericks: This is the first of a three-game homestand, which also includes games against the Knicks on Sunday and the Lakers on Tuesday. ... The Mavericks are back home after sweeping their 3-0 road trip to Chicago, Minnesota and Washington. It’s the Mavericks’ first 3-0 sweep on the road since their championship season, when they swept Washington, Toronto and Philadelphia ... The last time the Mavs were seven games over .500 was on April 21, 2012, after a 93-83 loss in Chicago in the lockout-shortened season and dropped their record to 36-29. ... The Mavericks have lost their past two home games to Toronto (109-108 in overtime) and San Antonio (116-107). ... Dirk Nowitzki played 32 minutes Wednesday in Washington on a gimpy left ankle after injuring it 54 seconds into the game. After that game Nowitzki referred to himself as an “expensive decoy.” ... The 87-78 win over the Wizards were the fewest points the Mavericks have allowed in a game this season.
