The City of Mansfield Water Utility Department is offering Mansfield residents a free Christmas tree recycling service for this year’s holiday season.

Christmas trees can be dropped off at 24 N. Mitchell Road. The collection site gate will be open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays Dec. 27-Jan. 17. All bags, lights, tinsel, wires, ornaments and stands must be removed from the tree prior to placing the tree in the lot. Flocked and fake trees will not be accepted. Residents will be responsible for unloading the trees. Christmas trees can NOT be dumped at any other location.

Please do not drop off any other items, trash, debris or yard trimmings at this location. There will not be a dumpster on-site. It is for the Christmas tree drop off only!

The city will grind the trees into mulch, which will be available for residents, free of charge, during the 2014 Mulch Madness, scheduled for March 22. The trees from this year’s collection will help to protect plants for next year.
