Mavericks at Rockets

7 p.m. Monday, Toyota Center, Houston

TV: FSSW

Radio: ESPN/103.3 FM, KFLC/1270 AM (Spanish)

Records: Mavericks 15-12, Rockets 18-10

About the Mavericks: Dirk Nowitzki needs just 14 points to pass Alex English and become the No. 13 all-time leading scorer in NBA history. Nowitzki has 20-plus points in nine of his past 10 games. ... The Rockets defeated the Mavs in Houston 113-105 on Nov. 1. ... The Mavs returned the favor and rallied to beat the Rockets in Dallas 123-120 behind season highs of 37 points from Monta Ellis and 35 from Nowitzki. Dallas trailed 93-75 with 3:35 left in the third quarter before rallying for the victory. ... The Mavs have dropped four of their last six games. It’s their worst stretch of the season, not counting the four losses in five games they experienced from Nov. 23-30. ... The Mavs are just 4-9 on the road and have lost their last three games away from Dallas, including a 123-108 defeat in Phoenix on Saturday. ... The Mavs are seventh in the league in scoring (103.5 ppg) and sixth in assists (23.3 apg).

About the Rockets: Center Dwight Howard took Detroit’s Andre Drummond to school so well Saturday night that Drummond gave him a compliment. “At the end I thanked him for the lesson,” Drummond said. “He said, ‘Anytime.’ ” It was Howard’s best game of the season: 35 points, 19 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and a steal to lead the Rockets to a 114-97 victory. ... Guard James Harden sat out the game against Detroit with a sprained right ankle and probably won’t play Monday. ... Guard Jeremy Lin missed the game against the Pistons and hopes to play Monday tonight. ... Guard Patrick Beverly will miss Monday’s game after breaking his right hand against Detroit. ... The Rockets, who lost Friday in Indiana 114-81, have won five of their last eight games and are coming off a night when they handed out 33 assists against the Pistons. ... Houston is second in the NBA in scoring at 106.4 ppg.
