About the Stars: Dallas bounced back from a 6-2 loss in Colorado on Monday with a 3-2 victory at home against the Avalanche. It was the Stars’ first victory over Colorado in four meetings and moved Dallas into fifth place in the Central Division. ... Colton Sceviour scored the game-winning goal with 2:52 left in the third period. It was his second goal in three games since being called up from the AHL. Ray Whitney scored the first two goals Tuesday for the Stars, who held the Avalanche to only 27 shots on goal after allowing 48 shots on goal on Monday, including 21 in the first period.

About the Canucks: Vancouver is fourth in the Pacific Division and coming off a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild in a shootout Tuesday that snapped a seven-game winning streak. … The Canucks, who lost 2-1 to the Stars on Nov. 17, are led by twins Daniel and Henrik Sedin, who have 32 points apiece. Daniel has 11 goals and 21 assists, while Henrik has nine goals and 23 assists. Ryan Kesler is next with 26 points. — From online reports
