A blood drive for a Burleson teen burned in a residential backyard fire last month is scheduled for Dec. 27 at a Burleson church.

The drive will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Graceview Baptist Church, 1440 S. Burleson Boulevard in Burleson.

Cameron Russell, 13, remained at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas on Monday, suffering from burns over 80 percent of his body in the blaze that occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 27 in the 400 block of Southeast Gardens Boulevard in Burleson.

Cameron’s brother, Nick Russell, 17, and another teen, Shawn Dean, 18, also were injured in the blaze. Dean and Nick Russell have been released from the Dallas hospital.

A fourth teen, Dakota Vasquez, also 13, who also suffered burns in the fire, was released from the Dallas hospital just a few days ago.

The four teens were in the backyard of the Russell brothers’ home where they had built a small fire, according to Burleson fire officials.

At some point, Cameron Russell poured gasoline on the blaze, causing the fire to flare up and burn the boys. Nick Russell was burned as he attempted to extinguish flames that were on his brother, a family member said Monday.
