Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Ross Wolf exercised an out clause in his contract to pursue an opportunity in South Korea with the SK Wyverns, the team announced Friday.

Wolf, who spent most of the final four months with the Rangers last season, had been slated to join them in spring training after signing a minor league deal with an invitation to big league camp on Nov. 4. The 31-year-old won his first big league game in his Rangers debut on May 22 and finished the season 1-3 with a 4.15 ERA over 22 appearances, including three starts.

Ellsbury introduced

The New York Yankees introduced new outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, whom they signed Dec. 7 to a seven-year, $153 million contract.

Manager Joe Girardi called former Red Sox star Ellsbury “no longer a thorn in my side.” He will wear No. 22 with the Yankees, taking over the number of Roger Clemens, another Boston star who moved south to New York.

No. 2, Ellsbury’s uniform with the Red Sox, belongs to Yankees captain Derek Jeter. Ellsbury was No. 23 in college, but that’s retired in honor of Don Mattingly. And Ellsbury started his big league career with No. 46, which was worn by Andy Pettitte and isn’t being given out any time soon, if at all.

M’s add to Cano

On the heels of giving former Yankee Robinson Cano a 10-year, $240 million deal, the Seattle Mariners finalized a one-year contract with free agent outfielder Corey Hart and traded reliever Carter Capps to the Miami Marlins for outfielder Logan Morrison.

Hart signed an incentive-laden one-year deal after missing all of 2013 due to knee surgery. Both Hart and Morrison can play in the outfield and have time playing at first base.

Hart is a two-time All-Star. He hit .270 in 2012 with 30 homers and 83 RBIs for Milwaukee.

•  Yankees: Front-office brass in New York took issue with Robinson Cano’s contention he didn’t feel respect from them during contract negotiations. Cano made the statement Thursday when he completed a $240 million, 10-year contract with Seattle. The Yankees offered $175 million over seven years. Cano is 31, and Yankees president Randy Levine said the team doesn’t “believe in 10-year contracts” for players over 30. Cano wanted a 10-year deal.

•  Royals: Kansas City and 32-year-old veteran infielder Omar Infante tentatively agreed on a four-year deal, a source told The Associated Press. Infante had 51 RBIs for Detroit last season.
