The search for an 86-year-old Arlington man with possible dementia is over after the man was found safe in Plano, Arlington officials said.Plano police made contact with Bill Kirby Sr. after a vigilant person spotted the man driving his 2002 Blue Chevy Silverado on the tollway and called officials.“His family is on the way to him now,” Arlington police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said in a news release Friday afternoon.Kirby’s family reported him missing about 4 a.m. Friday after discovering he was not at his home in the 1000 block of Wilshire Boulevard. He had last been seen by his family Thursday evening, Arlington police had said.Dallas police reported that they had seen Kirby near W. Illinois Avenue and S. Hampton Road about 11:15 p.m. Thursday before he was reported missing. The Dallas officers provided Kirby directions back to Arlington via Interstate 30, Arlington police said.The Texas Department of Public Safety later issued a Silver Alert for Kirby. As a result, messaging about the man’s disappearance and vehicle description were added to TXDOT signs.Police say Kirby had been showing signs of developing dementia.
