In his first public appearance since reports surfaced that he would resign by the end of the week, Texas coach Mack Brown said he would be meeting with athletic director Steve Patterson and UT president Bill Powers to discuss his future.

Brown, appearing a news conference in San Antonio to promote the Alamo Bowl, praised Powers and former athletic director DeLoss Dodds but declined to be more specific about his future, saying that he wanted the focus to be on the Dec. 30 game against Oregon.

He said he was looking forward to the meeting with Patterson and Powers and “getting on the same page.”

Multiple reports this week said that Brown would not be back in 2014 and that his resignation could come as early as Friday. The Longhorns lost 30-10 to Baylor on Sunday, finishing the regular season 8-4.

Brown said he the team was excited to be back at the Valero Alamo Bowl, where the Longhorns defeated Oregon State 31-27 in 2012.

“There’s no better town or city in this country that’s great to the Longhorns like San Antonio,” Brown said.
