Height: 5-foot-11 Weight: 230

Season: Rookie College: Alabama

Strengths: Lacy is a workhorse. In the 12 games he has played, Lacy has eight games with at least 20 carries. He has really powerful legs and will run through arm tackles. Lacy has quicker feet than defenders think, allowing him to make unexpected cuts. He is a tough runner and unafraid of contact, which makes him difficult to stop in short-yardage situations. He has 45 first downs this season.

Weaknesses: His blocking still needs to improve. The Packers are using him as a three-down back, but he can be a liability in blitz pickup. Lacy is not a breakaway threat. He ran only a 4.64 at his Pro Day and has only two runs over 20 yards this season, including only one over 40. Lacy has struggled to stay healthy this season. He sat out two games with a concussion, and he has a sprained ankle that could keep him out this week.

Last week: He rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in the 22-21 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Lacy was hampered by a sprained right ankle in the second half.

Who has to stop him? The Cowboys, 32nd in overall defense, rank 28th in rush defense. Dallas does expect to have middle linebacker Sean Lee, who left Monday’s game with a neck injury. But weakside linebacker Bruce Carter likely will be out with a hamstring injury.

Notable: Lacy is a candidate for offensive rookie of the year with 227 carries for 887 yards and seven touchdowns. His rushing yards lead all rookies and rank ninth overall. … If Lacy can’t play, the Packers have James Starks, who rushed for 19 yards on seven carries last week. They recently signed Kahlil Bell, who was inactive last week. … Lacy’s seven touchdowns are a franchise rookie record. Samkon Gado held the record (at six) since 2005. … Lacy’s 227 carries are the most by a rookie in franchise history. … The Packers have had five games of at least 180 rushing yards this season. … Lacy has 836 yards over the past nine games, third-most in the league over that span. … Lacy needs 113 yards to become the second rookie back in franchise history to reach 1,000 rushing yards. John Brockington had 1,105 in 1971. … The Packers rank 10th in rushing.
