Rockwood Golf Course sees 34,000 kids a year according to the Star-Telegram’s Dec. 4 column, “Fort Worth looks at ways to improve its golf game.”

Mayor Price questions adding $4.4 million to the 2014 bond program for improvements to this golf course. “It has to be fiscally responsible. The dollars have to work,” Price said.

Is anyone asking if it is “fiscally responsible” to add $2.7 million for bicycle infrastructure?

Where have the funds come from for the bicycle lane striping and for adding showers for city employees? Does the price “work”? These projects have already been completed.

I’m not a golfer and when I could ride a bicycle, I tried to stay off of city streets as I was not able to keep up with the flow of traffic.

If it would help sway the Mayor’s opinion, maybe we could put a bike trail around the golf course.
