Nolan Catholic’s bid for a third consecutive TAPPS Division I title has been postponed until Tuesday, due to the anticipated winter blast headed for North Texas.
The Vikings (9-4) will play Plano Prestonwood Christian (12-1) at 6 p.m., Tuesday at Tiger Stadium in Corsicana. Originally set for 7 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium, TAPPS officials postponed the game early Wednesday due to safety concerns.
The National Weather Service expects freezing rain by Thursday night and continuing through Friday. It’s the second time in three weeks that adverse weather conditions have caused havoc with the high school football playoffs.
“We’re not going to try to press and make this more than it is,” Nolan coach Joe Prud'homme said. “We’ll practice [Thursday], and Friday if we’re here we’ll do a walk-through. Monday will be final preparations.”
The TAPPS Division II game between Midland Christian and Katy Pope John XXIII is rescheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Tiger Stadium, followed by the Division III game between Dallas First Baptist and Bryan Brazos Christian at 6 p.m.
Nolan has won the last two Division I titles and four of the last five. Prestonwood beat Nolan for the 2010 title.
Argyle vs. Gladewater, a UIL Class 3A Division II game, is now 6 p.m. Friday at Kincaide Stadium in Dallas. Kickoff is 90 minutes earlier than originally scheduled.
