TCU is expected to hire Houston offensive coordinator Doug Meacham, according to a source who confirmed another report Tuesday evening.

TCU coach Gary Patterson said Meacham has not been hired, pointing out that the job opening, which is listed on TCU’s website, was posted Monday and will close Friday. Patterson would not confirm whether Meacham will be hired or what would happen to current co-offensive coordinators Rusty Burns and Jarrett Anderson. Both could remain position coaches on the staff. Burns also coaches quarterbacks and Anderson coaches running backs.

Meacham’s name has been floating around as a possible candidate for a few weeks.

Fox affiliate KRIV in Houston reported that Meacham has been offered the TCU job but has yet to accept it.

Meacham grew up in Arlington and spent this season as Houston’s offensive coordinator after eight seasons as tight ends and receivers coach at his alma mater Oklahoma State, where he played offensive line. He served as OSU’s passing game coordinator in 2008-09.

He also coached at Samford, Henderson State, Jacksonville State and Georgia Military, among others. In his one season as the Houston offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, the Cougars averaged 33.9 points and 422.5 yards a game.
