Shame on Coach Patterson

I am personally embarrassed as a Fort Worth citizen by the Texas Christian University Coach Gary Patterson’s statement that the widely respected Coach Art Briles of Baylor had no “class,” less than 24 hours before the funeral of Briles’ brother, Eddie, his last family member. (See: “Patterson takes shot at Briles after game,” Sunday)

All of this over a penalty that was correctly called against a Baylor player?

Coach Patterson, do you have the courage and “class” to apologize?

This has happened way too many times — either an on-the-field confrontation, or a gutless rampage into a TV camera.

Man up!

— Michael Garrison, Fort Worth

Coach Patterson thinks he has the right to judge Art Briles for how he treated one of his players called for a targeting penalty.

Remember back, Gary, when Casey Pachall was having alcohol problems and you continued to let him play no matter what?

Patterson has had his own issues about protecting players. Just saying — coaches don’t call out other coaches.

Shame on you, Patterson. It sounded like a sore baby loser. It was a hard-fought game.

Typical TCU whining.

— Kay Tiblets, Gordon
