Mansfield runners trot toward top

Jeff Weisheit of Mansfield finished third overall at the recent YMCA Turkey Trot of Fort Worth in the annual 10k run.

The 18-year old was second in his 14-19 age division and finished in 33:21.

Nicholas Foshaugh was fifth in his 35-39 age division and 29th overall with a time of 39:35. Lesley Burke was first in the Masters Division and 56th overall.

Tiger swimmers, divers excel at TISCA meet

The Mansfield swimming and diving team performed well at the Class 5A Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) meet at The Colony recently.

Mike Thibert took first place in the 100m Freestyle and third in the 200m Free. Sara McClendon finished third in the 500m Free, while Lauren Thompson took second in the 100m Breaststroke and fourth in the 200 Individual Medley.

Those two events by Thompson were also school record-setting performances. As for the divers, Nick Miller finished fifth and Andrew Hernandez seventh in the one-meter diving.

The Tigers will be back in the pool for the Mansfield Invitational on Dec. 13-14.

Adult basketball leagues now taking registrations

The Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department’s winter adult basketball leagues are now taking registrations for the upcoming season.

League space is limited to eight teams each. Early registration runs through Jan. 3, with team fees of $325. Late registration will be extended through Jan. 13, with fees of $350.

Register at the Mansfield Activities Center, 106 S. Wisteria St. during regular operating hours. For more information, call 817-453-5420.

Mansfield back on ice this week

The Mansfield ISD hockey team will be back in action after the holiday week as they play Frisco Thursday at 7 p.m.

Thus far into the 1-8 season for Mansfield, James Sullivan is the leading scorer with four goals and an assist.

Cameron Clark leads the team in assists with three. Zach Endy has picked up the win in goal for the team.

Timberview quartet sign D-1 letters of intent

Terriell Bradley, JaLea Bennett, Dayo Olabode and Aurmani DeGar, the nucleus of the Lady Wolves team that went 31-6 last year and is still highly ranked thus far in the 2013-2014 season, have signed Division I basketball letters of intent. The Lady Wolves are 8-4 headed into their Tuesday matchup with Summit.

Bradley signed to play at Kansas, Olabode at Texas Tech, Bennett at Arizona and DeGar at SMU. The school hosted a signing event at the school on Nov. 13.
