UT Arlington men’s basketball can’t shake road woes in loss to Robert Morris

The UT Arlington men’s basketball team remained winless on the road this season after falling to Robert Morris 88-81 Thursday night in Moon Township, Pa.

Robert Morris (3-2) put UTA in an early hole by jumping out to a 14-0 lead to start the game.

Trailing 41-31 at the half, the closest the Mavericks (2-4) could get to leading the game was a 67-67 tie with 6:20 left in the game.

Guard Reger Dowell led the Mavericks, losers of three straight, with a game-high 26 points. It was the senior’s sixth straight game scoring at least 20 points. In all five Mavericks scored in double figures with Jamel Outler scoring 15, Vincent Dillard adding 11 and Lonnie McClanahan scoring 10. Brandon Edwards also recorded his fourth double-double this season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Robert Morris used the 3-pointer to keep the Mavericks at arm’s length, connecting on 12 of 26 in the game including 8 of 16 in the first half. Guard Karvel Anderson led the way for the Colonials scoring 24 points, including 8 of 10 from 3-point range. Lucky Jones added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Robert Morris.
