Aaryn Ellenberg scored 24 points, freshman Derica Wyatt added 23 — hitting seven 3-pointers — and No. 10 Oklahoma routed UT Arlington 99-46 on Wednesday night.

Ellenberg went 4 of 12 from 3-point range for Oklahoma (4-1) and her first 3-pointer of the game was the 300th of her career. But she was upstaged by Wyatt, a freshman who didn’t even play in the Sooners’ two most recent games, against Gonzaga and Louisville.

Wyatt, who entered the game 1 of 5 this season from behind the arc, didn’t miss on five 3-point attempts in the first half as Oklahoma built a 52-19 lead over the Mavericks (0-5).

Oklahoma, which entered the game shooting 24 percent from 3-point range, finished 14 of 33 (42 percent) against UTA. The Sooners shot 48 percent overall.

Briana Walker came off the bench to lead UTA with 13 points while Laila Suleiman and Desherra Nwanguma scored 12 each and Tahlia Pope had six points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The Mavericks, in their first season in the Sun Belt Conference, committed 34 turnovers.

“We came into this game knowing we wanted to work on our stuff,” UTA coach Krista Gerlich said. “OU’s in the top 10 for a reason and it was very difficult to decide what to guard.”

UTA freshman Allyson Te’o, a 6-foot-2 forward from Keller Fossil Ridge, made her first start, and 5-7 freshman Allea Harris, from Argyle, started for the second time this season. Te’o had three points and five rebounds in 31 minutes.

“Tonight was a great teaching moment for us,” Gerlich said. “Ellenberg was the only one really making 3-pointers coming into this game, but with someone else making those shots, we were forced to adjust.”

The result never was in doubt. Oklahoma sprinted to a 10-0 lead over the Mavericks in the first 3 1/2 minutes.

UTA was within 18-10 after seven straight points by Suleiman but Oklahoma went on a 25-2 run, which Wyatt capped with five straight 3-pointers, all in the span of four minutes.

Wyatt was a three-time Miss Basketball honoree in the prep ranks in Tennessee. Against UTA, she finished 8-of-13 from the field — taking 11 3-pointers. The Sooners led by as many as 57 points in the second half.

UTA will host VCU at 1 p.m. Sunday at College Park Center.
