South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney limped off the field in the second quarter of the No. 10 Gamecocks’ 19-14 victory over Florida on Saturday night.Clowney rolled around on the turf in pain as Gamecocks trainers rushed out to help. He got up after a few minutes and was helped to the sideline, limping with a right leg injury. Clowney was then looked at by team doctors on the sidelines. Last year’s Southeastern Conference player of the year had just two sacks and 6 1/2 tackles for loss this season. Clowney has had injury issues this season. He took himself out of last month’s game with Kentucky because of muscle strain around his ribs. The 6-foot-6, 274-pound junior is also dealing with bone spurs in his right foot, a condition he’s had since high school. Volleyball • West Virginia 3, TCU 0: The Horned Frogs (15-13, 3-10 Big 12) struggled offensively, as the Mountaineers (18-11, 4-9) earned their first victory over TCU 17-25, 25-27, 20-25 at the WVU Coliseum. Stephanie Holland led TCU for the sixth straight match and was the only Frogs player with double-digit kills (11) and only one error for a .588 hitting percentage. Yvonne Igodan chipped in nine kills, while Natalie Gower had eight kills and only one error for a .438 hitting clip. • UT Arlington 3, La-Monroe 1: Middle blockers Ashley Bennett and Charmaine Whitmore along with outside hitter Hannah Baptiste led the Mavericks with a team-high nine kills each as UTA wrapped up the Sun Belt Conference regular season with a 24-26, 25-14, 25-16, 25-20 victory over the Warhawks. Sophomore defensive specialist Caitlyn Cooney led the defense with 20 digs in the match. UT Arlington will be the fourth seed going into the Sun Belt Volleyball Championship on Thursday.Briefly • TCU signings: Men’s tennis announced the signing of Trevor Johnson of Las Vegas. She is ranked 45th national by Golfweek and 13th among 2014 recruits. • TCU rifle: The Frogs earned a three-point victory over Jacksonville State on Friday night. TCU turned in an aggregate score of 4,656. Freshman Sally Li recorded a personal best 1,172. She tied teammate Hannah Black for the top spot in smallbore, shooting a 581, and Li finished first in air rifle after shooting a 591.
