GLEN ROSE — Colleyville Heritage defeated Arlington Martin in straight sets 25-18, 25-22, 25-18 in the Class 5A Region I semifinal Friday night at Tiger Arena.
The No. 3 Panthers’ (43-5) win secured a spot in the Region I final against No. 2 Southlake Carroll (47-1), which defeated Hebron in the earlier game.
“A win is a win, and we’ll take it,” Colleyville Heritage coach Jamie Siegel said.
The Panthers struggled to build a lead early in the first set, as Martin (35-12) had an answer for any momentum Heritage looked to gain. The set was tied at 6-6 before Heritage went on a run to push its lead to 15-10. Martin cut the lead to two at 19-17 before junior Anna Walsh stepped up with four blocks in the final six points to secure the set.
Walsh and junior Maddie Jones finished with 14 kills apiece to lead the Panthers.
“We just didn’t play well tonight,” Siegel said. “We always say at this point we’ll take it, however we can get it.”
