Granbury rallied from a two-set deficit to beat Dumas 22-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-23, 15-13 in a Class 4A Region I semifinal Friday night at Abilene Christian University’s Moody Coliseum.

The Pirates (41-5) meet Amarillo (35-9) at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Region I final with a state tournament berth at stake. Amarillo defeated Aledo in the other semifinal.

“The first two games we were tentative and had butterflies,” Granbury coach Tammy Clark said. “They came out in Game 3 with an attitude of nothing to lose. Once they figured out that being aggressive was going to work, they got in a groove.”

The Pirates took a 6-3 lead in Game 3, then held the momentum by preventing any Dumas service runs.

Granbury’s Shelby Shaee served the last five points of Game 3.

Granbury was led by Aubrey Ezell’s 56 assists and nine kills. Karis Beasley added 14 kills and 29 digs.

Taylor DeYoung had 11 kills, Amber Strange had nine, and Breanna Crain made 32 digs.
