The Dallas Cowboys are off this week, but receiver Dez Bryant was able to score big in the court of public opinion thanks to a trip to a Dallas-area Wal-Mart on Thursday night.

Bryant was there to buy the new Sony PlayStation 4 video game system. And according to several people on Twitter, Bryant bought the system for a handful of people in line. The PS4 retails for $399.00.

Cowboys LBs fined

It was not a good week for the Cowboys’ top four linebackers. Justin Durant and Sean Lee both went out of the New Orleans game with hamstring injuries and now are out 3-4 weeks.

To add insult to injury, the league on Friday announced fines for Bruce Carter and Ernie Sims for penalties in the 32-point loss to the Saints.

The NFL fined Carter $15,570 for a horse-collar tackle on Saints running back Darren Sproles. Sims was hit with a $7,875 fine for a facemask penalty against Saints running back Mark Ingram. Both penalties came in the Saints’ six-play, 92-yard drive in the third quarter.

Briefly

• Dolphins: Offensive tackle Jonathan Martin met for more than seven hours with the NFL counsel investigating the team’s bullying scandal and later addressed a throng of reporters outside. “I do not intend to discuss this matter publicly,” Martin said.

• Obituary: Hall of Fame offensive lineman Mike McCormack died in Palm Desert, Calif. He was 83. McCormack played 12 seasons with the Cleveland Browns, and later coached the Eagles, Colts and Seahawks. He also was instrumental in helping Carolina land an NFL franchise in 1993.

• Falcons: Running back Jason Snelling was arrested Friday morning on misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Browns: A trophy engraved with the names of six Hall of Fame players and coach Paul Brown, given to the Browns in 1946 after winning the first of four consecutive titles in the now defunct All-American Football Conference, was found in a box in the garage of the grandson of a former minority owner and given to the team.

• Raiders: Quarterback Terrelle Pryor suffered a setback to his sprained right knee and appears unlikely to play Sunday. Undrafted rookie Matt McGloin will start if Pryor can’t.

• Chiefs: A longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan says he swapped six game tickets — four for the December game against Denver and two for next weekend’s game against San Diego — for a wedding ring set appraised for $2,800 and advertised on Craigslist.
