On Thursday, six of the Weatherford Christian School volleyball players received TCAF All-District and All-State honors.

Seniors Kennedy Combs and Ashleigh Garvin and junior Paige Hunn received First Team All-District honors. Since these girls earned a First Team district spot, they qualified for state honors. Combs received First Team All-State, Garvin earned Second Team All-State, and Hunn was recognized with All-State Honorable Mention.

Sophomores Hannah Burks, Hannah Floyd and Kaitlyn Fell each received All-District Honorable Mention.

“I am glad to see the girls rewarded for their efforts,” said Coach Debby Steensma. “For those that got state awards, they will have one more opportunity to showcase their talents in an All-Star game. The seniors will be missed, but we still have a solid team for next year.”

Lady Lions Basketball

Weatherford Christian School played its first game of the season on Friday against Calvary Christian in Fort Worth . It was a rough game for the girls as they lost, 37-9.

“The girls needed to be pushed like this so that we can become mentally tough,” Steensma said. “Eventually, they were more aggressive on defense, but we need more work on shooting.”

The Lady Lions will play again at 6 p.m. this Friday at home against Covenant Classical.
