Focus on citizens

A letter was printed this past week that praised the Southlake City Council and Cooper and Stebbins for "considering a community of diversity." I agree that the idea of condos on the Town Square is appealing, but I do not think that diversity is something that should be pursued for its own sake.

Southlake has taken time to build its identity as a city, and the preferred lifestyle of its citizens should be taken under high consideration when pursuing a project such as this. Yes, cities change, but that change will happen naturally, and does not need to be promoted as such. Let diversity happen or not on its own, and focus on the current citizens who will be affected by these additions.

All that being said, this writer is also confident in the ability of the City Council and Cooper and Stebbins to weigh the options and look to the future with Southlake's best interest in mind.
