A man with a gunshot wound was taken to a hospital by helicopter ambulance from a site on Alliance Gateway Freeway near Old Denton Road following a road rage incident that happened about 4:20 p.m. Saturday, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman said.

The victim’s name and condition was not released.

The suspected gunman called police from the nearby Cabela’s store and waited there for officers, said Officer Sharron Neal.

The “suspect shot [the] victim because [the] victim came up and started beating on his car during a road rage incident,” Neal said in an email.

The suspect is in custody, Neal said, adding that no other information will be released until the investigation is complete.
