Take your family to honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces at one of these DFW-area events:

Fort Worth Veterans Day Parade: This year’s theme is "Honorong Medics and Corpsmen — Unsung Heroes." The parade begins at 10 a.m. from LaGrave Field in the parking lot at North 7th Street and Main Street. The parade will swing west of the courthouse on Houston Street and go south to 5th Street, where it loops back north on Main Street to swing east of the courthouse and return to LaGrave Field.

Good to know: The best places to watch the parade are between Belknap and 5th streets, because school bands join at Weatherford Street. Police will shut down all streets on the parade route — from Northside Drive to 5th Street — from about 10 a.m. to around 12:30 p.m. Veterans with military ID cards ride Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) buses free on regular and express routes in Fort Worth and Richland Hills, but not TRE or MITS (Mobility Impaired Services)

Dallas Veterans Day Parade: Show your appreciation to the military veterans of all of our nation’s armed forces. This year's theme is "Honoring the Veterans and POWs of Vietnam."

Good to know: Military vehicles and equipment, veterans organizations, civic and corporate displays will be available for viewing at 9:30 a.m. in front of City Hall and will be dismantled after the parade.

When: 11 a.m. Monday, November 11 (The parade begins approximately 1 hour after official ceremony at 11 a.m. at City Hall)

Where: The parade will begin at Reunion Arena, proceed north on Houston Street, east on Main Street, south on Ervay Street, west on Young Street, south on Akard Street and pass in review in front of City Hall, 500 Marilla Street Dallas, TX 75201

Veterans Day Celebration: Retired Lt. Gen. Rich Lynch will speak. Also featured are: aircraft flyover; bag pipers; 21-gun salute; USO-themed patriotic music.

Good to know: Free lunch follows at Veterans Park Event Center, adjacent to the memorial.

Veterans Day Program: The Veterans Affairs Department and the Texas National Cemetery Foundation will host this program at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.Texas General Land Office Commissioner Jerry Patterson will deliver the keynote address. A cannon salute will be rendered by Second Battalion, 14th Marines, and the Mountain View College Community Band and Reflections Concert Choir who will perform patriotic music.

A Salute to Our Veterans: Army Sgt. William MacSwain will speak on the 60th anniversary of the Korean Armistice. The program will also include USO performances and free admission to the Air Museum. The Military Museum of Ft. Worth will have a display of authentic military uniforms & memorabilia

Good to know: Food vendors will be on site.

Veterans Day Celebration: Activities will include musical entertainment and NRH Police and NRH Fire Honor Guard presenting the colors. Holiday Lane will be closed from Liberty Way to North Richland Boulevard from about 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to allow pedestrians to cross safely.

Good to know: In case of inclement weather on November 11, the Veterans Day Celebration would move to the NRH City Council Chambers at City Hall, 7301 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills

Grapevine Veterans Day Parade: Everyone is invited to attend the second-annual event honoring veterans. The parade will be followed by a festival with bounce houses, hot dogs, s’mores, a junior angler fishing experience for the kids, kayaks, paddle boats, crafts, and the opportunity to thank a Soldier.
