With cooler temps, you might want to take your family indoors to one of these fun, free events in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this weekend:

Drawing from the Collection for Children: Artists Bradly Brown and Kevin Todora will be leading two sessions one for ages 5 to 8 and one for ages 9 to 12. The instructors will take the budding artists through informal drawing exercises that relate to works in the Modern’s galleries. Participants should bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited; early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet will be located at the information desk.

Good to know: Children younger than 6 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult during the program.

Studio Creations at the Dallas Museum of Art: Create a colorful collage enhanced with images from nature, inspired by the current exhibition “Jim Hodges: Give More Than You Take.” The activity is limited to 36 participants. Pick up tickets outside the Art Studio in C3, thirty minutes before each workshop begins.

Good to know: Discover a different activity each month and learn how artists see the world. All materials are provided, and all ages are welcome.

Target First Saturdays at Nasher: The popular Target First Saturdays event features art projects, tours, scavenger hunt, yoga, sculpture demo, storytime and take-home art activities.

Good to know: Family tours are at 10:15 a.m, 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.; NasherKids Meal available for puchase at Nasher Cafe from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Adventure Asia: Celebrate Diwali!: Family Days at the Crow is a chance for your children to explore new cultures. This weekend’s event celebrates Diwali, a festival of lights celebrated throughout India and among Indians world-wide. Activities include Rangoli Sand Painting art activity, creating Diwali greeting cards, family yoga, family meditation, “Move Like a Ninja” games, face painting, origami and a traditional Indian Bollywood dance lesson.

Good to know: In the case of inclement weather, some activities may be canceled or moved indoors.

Dia de los Muertos celebration: This free family festival features a drum and puppet procession from Marine Park to the Rose Marine Theater Plaza, as well as music, dancing, face painting, and pan de muerto. In conjunction with the exhibition ¡Hombre! Prints by José Guadalupe Posada, the Amon Carter Museum is sponsoring the art-making booth at Artes de la Rosa’s annual Day of the Dead celebration.

Good to know: Procession begins at 7 p.m.
