STEPHENVILLE — Stephenville clinched its third straight district title with a 63-0 victory over Hillsboro on Friday night at Tarleton State’s Memorial Stadium.
Jarrett Stidham led the way offensively for the Yellow Jackets, even though he was limited to only first-half snaps. The junior quarterback finished 9-of-13 passing for 198 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 62 yards and two more scores.
Stephenville (8-1, 3-1 in 7-3A) amassed 505 yards to Hillsboro’s 95. The Yellow Jackets had more first-half points (49) than Hillsboro had first-half total yards (42).
Stidham found Brock Morrison twice in the first quarter for touchdowns on 41 and 33-yard receptions. Morrison finished as the Yellow Jackets’ leading receiver with 81 yards on three catches.
Nine different players took a handoff for the Yellow Jackets. Four players surpassed 60 yards, with senior Will Brock leading the way with 84 yards and a second-half touchdown.
Along with Stidham and Martin’s rushing touchdowns, Ben Martin, Cameron Reynolds and Anthony Chavarria all scored via the rush.
Leading the way defensively for the Yellow Jackets were a pair of seniors, Brandon Stevens, who picked up his fourth interception on the season and Kobe Beavers, who recovered one of four Hillsboro fumbles.
