Jesse Drummer and Emmanuel Moore hooked up on three touchdown passes on Friday night, helping Justin Northwest defeat Richland 42-14 at Northwest ISD Stadium.
The Texans clinched a 4-5A playoff berth as their defense came up with six turnovers.
Northwest (7-2, 4-2) struck first when Moore caught a 61-yard touchdown pass from Drummer just 17 seconds into the game.
Moore and Drummer hooked up a again on a 49-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-0 on Northwest’s next possession.
A Reggie McDaniel interception gave the Texans the ball on Richland’s 17, and the Texans scored on a 2-yard run by Quintin Thorpe to lead 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
McDaniel halted a Richland scoring drive with his second interception on a touchback early in the second quarter.
Richland (3-6, 2-4) struck in the second quarter when Stefon Jackson broke a 35-yard touchdown run to cut the Rebels’ deficit to 14 points.
The Texans came right back, however, as Drummer connected with Moore on their third touchdown on a 64-yard pass.
Chase Morrison caught a 28-yard pass from Drummer on Northwest’s next offensive possession to make it 35-7, but Richland answered on its next possession and scored on a 2-yard run from Deandre Clark.
Drummer finished the first half with 245 yards passing and four touchdowns. Moore had four receptions for 180 yards and three touchdowns in the first half.
Sam Jennings intercepted a Richland pass on a fake punt attempt.
