A 61-year-old Cleburne woman is in critical condition after being struck by vehicle Thursday night while on a trick-or-treating outing with her daughter and grandson.Detective K. Summey, a Cleburne police spokeswoman, said the victim, whose identity has not been released by police, was apparently attending a Trunk or Treat event at the Cleburne Bible church with her family when the collision occurred around 7:30 p.m.Summey said an accident report shows the trio were crossing the 900 block of North Nolan River when the woman was hit by a northbound Honda Pilot traveling in the far right lane. “It looks like they were probably walking over to the church,” Summey said. “They had already crossed four lanes of traffic.”Summey said the driver of the car attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the woman. The woman’s daughter and grandson suffered minor injuries in the incident, Summey said.“The occupants of the vehicle were extremely upset,” Summey said. “There was no indication that anybody had tried to flee. They immediately stopped and were there when the officers arrived.”The grandmother was taken by helicopter ambulance to a local hospital and is in critical condition, police said.Summey said the collision occurred approximately 200 feet from the intersection in a dimly lit area of the roadway. She said there is no evidence that speed was a factor in the collision.
