Marching band season is winding down for area musicians.

Bands from the four Keller district high schools and Northwest High School performed in the regional round of the UIL Marching Contest last week in Denton. For 5A bands, it signals the end of the UIL marching season, but a few area schools are still competing in other venues.

This year, 4A bands are eligible for the state championship. The Byron Nelson Marching Band advanced to the finals in the UIL Area A Contest Oct. 26 at Northwest Stadium in Justin.

The Keller Central Band and the Keller Indian Band will go to San Antonio for the Bands of America Super Regional Nov. 1-2.

On Oct. 19, the Central marching band placed fifth out of 64 groups at the Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis. Central placed sixth and Keller was ninth at an Oct. 12 Bands of America contest in Allen.
