Fort Worth Castleberry’s Christian Cardona scored three first-half touchdowns Thursday night, as the Lions rolled to a 55-0 victory over Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis at Farrington Field.
Cardona touched the ball only three times, but all went for touchdowns, and he finished with 129 yards rushing and even grabbed one interception.
Castleberry (4-5, 2-2 in District 6-3A) jumped on Diamond Hill (0-9, 0-4) early with a 10-yard run by Alex Scallion for a 7-0 lead two minutes into the first quarter.
Quarterback Dakota Wright, who ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, scored his first TD on a 2-yard run that gave Castleberry a 14-0 lead. Cardona rushed for his first touchdown from 59 yards out to push the Lions’ lead to 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Cardona scored on a 23-yard run, and Wright hit Cardona from 9 yards out for a score. After Cardona’s interception, Wright tacked on a 12-yard TD run for a 42-0 lead at halftime.
Castleberry added a 15-yard TD by Jesse Martinez and a 17-yarder by Oscar Orozco in the second half. Castleberry finished with 462 yards of total offense.
