FORT WORTH — A Fort Worth man was charged Tuesday with kidnapping and beating a strip club employee last week before she escaped from his truck in Johnson County and call police.W.L. Ward Jr., 38, was charged with aggravated kidnapping in a case a 21-year-old Dallas woman who worked at the club off Interstate 35W in Fort Worth. The incident occurred Oct. 22 after an altercation between Ward, a patron at the club, and the employee.Police were initially summoned to XTC Cabaret, 3315 North Freeway, for a verbal altercation between Ward and the woman, the reports say. Ward called police to resolve the dispute, police said.Police sorted out the details, resolved the incident without an arrest and left, according to the reports.After she finished work that morning, the woman drove to a nearby convenience store, and the suspect followed her, police said. Ward is accused of luring the woman into his truck and fleeing with her, according to the reports.The suspect drove southbound on the freeway to Johnson County as she fought with him, trying to escape, police said. She eventually broke free, suffering multiple injuries from the kidnapping, according to the police reports. She ran to a convenience store and called for help. Officers picked her up and took her to a hospital.Police identified the suspect based on the earlier call from the club, located his vehicle and arrested him Sunday, police said.Ward was released after posting $50,000 bail.He could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
