Dwight’s Howard’s impact at power forward

Are the Rockets serious about starting the game’s most dominant center, Dwight Howard, at power forward? It sure looks that way, because last year’s starting center, Omer Asik, believes he should be in the starting lineup and get Howard-like playing time. Hard to imagine the Rockets forking over $88 million to acquire Howard, then not playing him at his natural position.

Is there room for Omer Asik?

It’s not clear whether Omer Asik has drawn a line in the sand and demanded as much attention from the Rockets as Dwight Howard is receiving. Asik averaged 10.1 points and 11.7 rebounds per game while starting all 82 games last season. He’s Omer Asik. Not Dwight Howard. It’ll be interesting to see if the Rockets’ hands are forced and they wind up trading Asik.

What happened to Linsanity?

Remember Jeremy Lin? The kid who took the NBA landscape and America by storm less than two years ago when he became an instant celebrity while playing for the New York Knicks? Well, one year after signing a three-year, $25 million contract with the Rockets, Lin will split time this season as the team’s starting point guard with Patrick Beverley. Will this agreement work? — Dwain Price
