The quarterback situation for No. 5 Missouri just became precarious.

The Tigers are already without James Franklin, who is out for at least two more weeks with a shoulder sprain. Now reserve quarterback Corbin Berkstresser is out indefinitely with a torn medial meniscus in his left knee.

The school said Friday the injury occurred Oct. 15 during practice. He had arthroscopic surgery Thursday and is expected to be on crutches for a month.

Freshman Eddie Printz will take over as redshirt freshman Maty Mauk’s backup.

He will start today against No. 20 South Carolina.

TCU soccer wins

Freshman Michelle Prokof scored a goal in the 68th minute and freshman goalkeeper Shannon Coffer made a career-high nine saves, leading host TCU (6-8-3) to a 1-0 victory over visiting Iowa State in Big 12 soccer.

The victory gives TCU seven points in the league standings with a 2-4-1 record, tied with Iowa State (8-8-2) and Baylor for fourth place.

Coffer had an outstanding game,” TCU coach Eric Bell said.

UTA volleyball rolls

Amanda Walsh had 14 assists and Ashley Bennett eight kills, leading UTA to a 3-0 victory over host Arkansas State in Sun Belt volleyball.

The Mavericks are 14-9 for the season and 7-3 in the Sun Belt.

USC’s Lee out

USC wide receiver Marqise Lee will not play against Utah today because of a left knee injury, ESPN reported.

Lee, the reigning Biletnikoff award winner and who shares or owns 22 school records, missed most of the second half of a loss to Notre Dame last Saturday after aggravating the injury.

St. John’s suspension

St. John’s sophomore center Chris Obekpa was suspended from the Red Storm’s two exhibition games for a violation of university policy.

The 6-foot-9 sophomore, who led the NCAA last season with an average of 4.03 blocks per game, will miss exhibition games against San Francisco State and Humboldt State.
