Officials identified a motorist killed Saturday in a train wreck as Mohammed Al-Tayyeb, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported Tuesday on its website.

Al-Tayyeb, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene after his car was hit by a Trinity Railway Express passenger train. A ruling on his death was pending toxicology and an investigation into the wreck, the website report states.

According to witnesses, Al-Tayyeb was driving a car that went around the gates that had come down along the tracks in the 12000 block of Calloway Cemetery Road, a spokeswoman for the TRE said in a statement. Both the gates and the signals were working properly, said spokeswoman Joan Hunter.

Fort Worth firefighters responded to the accident shortly before 2:30 p.m Saturday.

None of the approximately 150 passengers aboard the TRE train was injured.
